For 3 generations, our existence has been based on the values held by a family deeply attached to Burgundy and passionate about the hotel and restaurant business.
The history of our group is closely tied to that of the Accor Group, and to the admiration and friendship we have for its founders, Paul Dubrule and Gérard Pélisson. Thus, over the years, our establishments have carried the names of a group that is now a world leader recognised for its product quality, sense of hospitality and the professionalism of its teams.
Our group’s history begins in 1955 when the first hotel, dating from 1928, is purchased. That hotel, the Art Deco-style “Ibis Central”, is located at the historic centre of Dijon and its restaurant testifies to our passion for Burgundy’s gastronomic traditions.
1975 sees the construction of the group’s second hotel, the “Mercure Dijon Centre Clemenceau”. Located in the centre of Dijon, opposite the Dijon Palais des Congrès, it is awarded its fourth star in 1997. Its restaurant, the “Château Bourgogne”, offers a menu that is a symphony of refinement and tradition.
At the same time, we decide to create a new two-star hotel. Located near Dijon’s train station, the “Ibis Arquebuse” hotel, built in 1977, offers 128 rooms and a modern restaurant, “Le Klub”.
In 1984, the group acquires the “Hotel De La Cloche”, which is one of the oldest hotels in Europe with a history dating back to 1424. After extensive renovation it is opened as a 4-star hotel under the Sofitel banner. Set under a glass roof, its gastronomic restaurant “Les Jardins de la Cloche” serves an imaginative cuisine to tempt gourmets.
Being now the owners of 4 hotels in Dijon, we therefore decide to expand to the other towns of Burgundy. Thus the “Ibis Beaune la Ferme aux Vins” hotel comes into being in 1988, opposite the new Palais des Congrès. Its restaurant “La Ferme aux Vins”, its tree-lined park and its swimming pool are enjoyed by both business travellers and tourists. Then, in 1992, we turn our attention to Chalon sur Saône: the “Ibis Chalon Europe” hotel has 90 rooms and a swimming pool; its recently renovated restaurant “Le Grill Gourmand” is one of the town’s fashionable places to dine.
And the group’s history does not end there. In 2005 an Etap hotel is created in Dijon and the next establishment will open its doors at the end of the first quarter of 2007. It will be part of the Ibis chain and will offer an additional 96 rooms in Dijon, aimed especially at seminar and conference organisers because of its location close to the Dijon Palais des Congrès.
We look forward to welcoming you one day in one of our hotels and to helping you share our love for the region, its heritage, its gastronomy and, of course, its famous wines.
